free-range, grass-fed, organic, locally produced, locally harvested, sustainable, native, low-stress, low-impact, humanely slaughtered meat.I'm thinking he has a really good point. I had venison several times as a teenager when a hunting friend's parents held an annual 'game meal' for their kids' friends. The food was always great. I wonder where I can find local game meat?
I'm new to your blog, but have an organic fruit farm in SW Ohio.
ReplyDeleteA note about eating wild deer: sadly, deer suffer from a wasting disease similar to mad cow. This disease has been spreading since first being detected in herds in WI and CO.
In other words, eat wild deer at your own peril.

Bummer about the deer! Is there any way to know whether a deer has this disease?
ReplyDeleteCWD hasn't been found anywhere near southern Ohio and muscle meat is not affected. Any processor knows how to butcher a deer to avoid contamination.
ReplyDeleteMati, thanks!
