If everyone ate grass-fed beef, our pastures would quickly become overgrazed, and the topsoil would be ruined. Not to mention the environmental devastation caused by the methane/cow dung. Fortunately, nobody has to eat cows, grass-fed or not.
Well, no, I think it would depend on how much beef we ate. If we all ate only that beef which could be sustainably raised on non-arable pasture, we'd be healthier, the cows would be happy, and more people would be fed than if we all ate a pure vegetarian diet.
