The official start of the farmshed season at Findlay Market (although many vendors have attended occasionally throughout the winter depending on what they had available) is this coming Saturday, April 19th from 8 - 6. I contacted the attending farmshed and outdoor vendors and asked what they'd be bringing to market on opening day. Many vendors will also be offering a raffle item for the Farmshed Spring Kickoff. Raffle tickets can be purchased from the individual vendors.

Finally, I am more than ready, will be there on Sat. morn. Val you going?
You're more than welcome! Thanks for the very informative and interesting site! My wife and I are trying to adopt a similar lifestyle. Your site has so many great resources that it makes it easy to eat locally and naturally.
hi!
just wanted to say thanks for your compliments to westside foodie wannabes and for having such an awesome blog - love it!
p.s. fried tofu in thai curry is one of my favorites, too!
Vudutu, oh, yeah! I'll be there! Gotta get my green garlic from Nancy Ogg. She has the best stuff. Later in the year she'll bring squash blossoms and I'll make The Best Summer Soup Ever.
k, you keep that blog up! As far as I know there aren't any westside food blogs besides you guys!
We know Nancy, I'll check in with her and see if your around, we usually get there by 10, let's have coffee!
I'll be around! I'll check in with Nancy, too!
Val, missed you, sorry! We came a little late, Nancy said you were by earlier, one of our now infamous spontaneous dinners cropped up last night. Friends know the garden is popping so they showed up with Champagne, lamb and brussel sprouts. A killer night on the deck. Catch you next week!
vudutu, sounds yummy! Wow, it was a bit nippy last night. I thought I was always pushing the season on getting onto the deck -- you guys must be tough!
Val, we did not eat on the deck, just hung out for sunset. Market was great, I spent wayyy much on plants and had fun, I could hang out there all morning. Now I have to plant all this stuff.
I hate to moderate comments, but anonymous complaints making accusations that can't be proven make me very uncomfortable. If you want to make a complaint about a specific vendor, please don't do it anonymously.
I didnt make it anon. my entire name is there - my phone number is 319-6758 I have a legit complaint and I wanted others made aware that she is a fraud and does not pay those she hires as well. DOnna's delights is not the type of establishment you want at your market. Just because I dont have a google blogger sign in doesnt mean i'm anon.
Nicole, I'm sorry. I must have clicked on the wrong comment -- I thought I was removing the one after yours. If I can figure out how to put yours back, I will.
My concern is that you have a vendor charging yoru customers for home baked items that are not home baked - and as I said in my deleted post - I know because she had me bake for her. She asks her bakers to use recipes from the side of pillsbury and betty croker boxes then charges you - the customer - $5.00! I actually made HOME recipe cookies and she said she didnt want them (sugar cookies with almonds inside as she had originally requested) because she found her customers liked boxed items more. That's fine and good - but at least PAY your bakers for their services as you said you would ($8.00 per hour PLUS supplies) and DONT claim them to be your own - give credit where credit is due. I've also reported her to Pillsburry and Betty Crocker as I dont believe this to be an honest practice. She now owes approx 7 bakers in the cincinnati area 50-100 dollars each for their services and has not paid. These are mostly stay at home moms wanting to earn extra money to help their families. I cannot stand by while this woman gets away with this. She owes me personally $104 dollars.
